after passing away, joan (elizabeth olsen) must choose who she wants to spend her eternity with. luke (callum turner) is her first husband who died in the korean war. larry (miles teller) is her current husband with whom she started a family with.

a modern day romantic comedy with an original idea, eternity pays homage to the films before it with charm and nuance. the film depicts a sophisticated view on love while exploring each character’s perspective and what it entails for joan. it does an exceptional job showcasing realistic portrayals of what any person would do in the scenarios that these characters face. the story also constantly keeps you guessing on who she picks, and the ending feels deserved and warranted. backed by incredible performances and committed direction, eternity provides a comforting experience through a clever and hilarious love triangle that’ll leave you satisfied from beginning to end.
